The United Nations Postal Administration (UNPA) in the Department of Operational Support (DOS) is issuing new UN Flag stamps on 20 August.

The following eight Member States of the United Nations are featured:

  1. Bahrain
  2. Belarus
  3. Brazil
  4. Cyprus
  5. Dominica
  6. Mauritania
  7. Mongolia
  8. Paraguay

A new “folder” containing all the Flag stamps can be found on the UNPA site.

The Flag stamp series, initially created in 1980 to honour the Member States of the United Nations, was launched every year until 1989 by which time all Member States had been featured.

The stamp series resumed in 1997, when new Member States were admitted to the United Nations, to showcase updated flag designs, or to incorporate changes to country names. All of the 2020 Flag stamps depict new flags or update past stamps.

For the latest Flag stamp series, there are two sheets of sixteen stamps – each depicting four stamp designs in the denomination of $1.20.

Both the stamp sheets and the flag folder were designed by Rorie Katz (UNPA).

These symbolic United Nations flag stamps are extremely popular among collectors. To purchase these stamps, as well as other UNPA products, please visit unstamps.org.  You can also email UNPA at unpanyinquiries@un.org or call 1-800-234-UNPA (8672).
