The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for West Asia (ESCWA), in collaboration with United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA), has launched the COVID-19 Stimulus Tracker.
It is a global observatory on social protection and economic policy responses to support Member States as they build back better from the pandemic.
The COVID-19 Stimulus Tracker compiles all social protection and economic policy support measures implemented by Governments and presents them in a state-of-the-art visualization platform.
It includes quantitative and qualitative information on several policy measure categories, including:
-
social assistance
-
social insurance
-
loans and tax benefits
-
labour markets
-
health-related support
-
financial policy support
-
general policy support
The tool also enables building country profiles on social protection and economic policy responses to the pandemic.
The COVID-19 Stimulus Tracker is a UN contribution to the global community. It has three unique features that can facilitate policy dialogue at the global, regional, and national levels, which
-
enables comparison of national policy measures vis-à-vis global, regional and income-group levels in respect of equity, coverage, and adequacy of measures
-
promotes peer learning on policy actions through user-friendly navigation
-
helps estimate the financial needs of countries and regions for impact mitigation using global or regional average benchmarks
