The United Nations is now accepting applications for the upcoming competitive examination for German Translators.

The examination establishes a roster to fill present and future vacancies for German Translators in the Department for General Assembly and Conference Management (DGACM) in New York.

The examination will be conducted remotely. Candidates simply need a computer and an internet connection.

This competitive examination is open to candidates who have a perfect command of German (which should be their main language) and an excellent knowledge of English.

Excellent knowledge of French or Spanish is also required, and knowledge of one or more of the other official languages of the United Nations (Arabic, Chinese, or Russian) is preferred.

Applicants must hold at least a first-level degree or an equivalent qualification in translation, interpretation, modern languages or another relevant subject, such as law, economics or international relations, from a university or institution of equivalent status at which German is the principal language of instruction or hold at least a first-level university degree from a recognized school of translation.

Completion of an advanced degree or post-graduate diploma in translation, interpretation, modern languages or another relevant subject is preferred.

No experience is required, but two or more years of practical experience in translation or a related field is preferred.

Applications from external and internal candidates (including staff members from the General Service and related categories) are welcome.
