The United Nations is now accepting applications for its upcoming competitive examination for French Interpreters.
The examination establishes a roster to fill present and future vacancies for French Interpreters in conference services in New York, Geneva, Vienna, or Nairobi.
Conducted remotely, the examination will simply require a computer and a good Internet connection.
This examination is open to candidates who have a perfect command of French (which is expected to be their main language) and an excellent knowledge of English, as well as either Russian or Spanish.
To apply, you must hold at least a first-level degree, or an equivalent qualification, from a recognized school of interpretation in which at least one full academic year is devoted to interpretation.
Alternatively, applicants with a first-level degree from a university or institution of equivalent status at which French is the language of instruction, and 150 days of work experience as conference interpreters and/or work experience in the fields of translation, editing, or verbatim reporting, are also eligible.
Although no prior work experience is required, experience as a conference interpreter and/or work experience in the fields of translation, editing, verbatim reporting, or other related fields will be an asset.
We welcome applications from external and internal candidates (including staff members from the General Service and related categories).
The deadline for applications is Sunday, 11 December 2022.
The first part of the examination will be conducted on 15 February 2023.
