Over 160,000 visitors
As Expo 2025 in Osaka, Japan, approaches the halfway point of its six-month run, the United Nations Pavilion has already welcomed over 160,000 visitors, well surpassing the upper end of our initial planning assumptions.
More than one-third of these visitors have completed our online survey, providing extremely positive feedback. By 13 July, or the midpoint of the Expo, the UN Pavilion will have hosted eleven temporary exhibitions and dozens of events.
Every day at the Expo has brought new encounters, whether with representatives from civil society, academia, the private sector, youth organizations, or the general public.
Visits from high-level representatives of Member States, including the President of Iceland, show their commitment to multilateralism and the SDGs.
Partnering for the SDGs
Our new and existing partnerships with the private sector have led to exciting events and exhibitions.
From a meet-up with Hello Kitty, co-organized with Sanrio, to a multi-venue SDG-themed walking event held in collaboration with Yoshimoto Kogyo, an entertainment company in Japan, these initiatives have leveraged their established fan bases to promote the Global Goals to audiences that are otherwise hard for us to reach.
In addition, the Japan Football Association, the Japan Inclusive Football Federation, and professional club team Gamba Osaka, have joined the Football for the Goals initiative.
Such collaborations truly exemplify the Organization’s role as the global town hall, not only for the 193 Member States, but also for the broader community of stakeholders and individuals. Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals is clearly in full swing at Expo 2025!
