The Secretary-General has launched the third edition of the Global Call for Heads and Deputy Heads of United Nations Field Missions.

The Global Call aims to expand the pool of candidates for the positions of Special Representative of the Secretary-General (SRSG) and their deputies (DSRSG) with a view to advancing gender parity and geographical diversity at the most senior leadership level in the field.

These mission leadership positions are graded at the Under-Secretary-General and Assistant Secretary-General levels.

Deadline is 15 November 2021

It is open to women and men, including UN staff members (at the D1 and above level) and external candidates.

The Global Call will consider official nominations from Member States, Organizational endorsements, personal recommendations, as well as individual applications.

Nominating entities can nominate up to four individuals, including at least two female candidates.

Requirements

Eligible applicants need to have at least 20 years of relevant experience including 5 years at senior representational level, in conflict, post-conflict, peacekeeping, peacebuilding, development settings, and/or experience in governance, mediation, facilitation and/or negotiations.

Profiles that meet the minimum requirements will, following an internal review process, be included in the SRSG/DSRSG pool, a database of potential candidates, which serves as a primary tool to source talent and which complements the Secretary-General’s own search and consultation.

Please note that the SRSG/DSRSG pool is not a roster of pre-cleared candidates and only individuals whose profile is found suitable for specific posts may be invited to participate in a competitive selection process.

Previous campaigns took place in 2017 and 2019.
