Milka has steered her professional career towards sustainable development with a focus on environmental sustainability and community economic development. She has 13 years of experience working in the public sector, performing community outreach, education, business development, policy research, and community organizing to implement high-profile social impact programs in coordination with government agencies, NGOs, and private companies. She has advised the Civil Society Unit of the UN Department of Global Communications as a Youth Representative of the Steering Committee and the UN NGO Executive Committee on how to engage youth and civil society with issues at the forefront of the UN agenda. As a social entrepreneur, she aims to raise awareness of sustainable tourism and decolonized climate education via tours and educational programs in the Dominican Republic. She is an alumna of the Island Innovation Ambassador program and is currently enrolled in the CORO Leadership NY and Environmental Leadership Program.
