The Millennium Campus Network (MCN) and United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI) are proud to present the Millennium Fellowship Class of 2025. This year’s Millennium Fellows were selected from among a record-breaking 60,396 applicants from over 7,500 campuses across 160 countries to participate in this ambitious program that helps make the Sustainable Development Goals and UNAI Principles a reality on campuses, in classrooms, and throughout communities.

Millennium Fellows are university undergraduates selected for their leadership on sustainable development-related projects that advance the SDGs in their communities.  As Millennium Fellows, they will participate in a semester-long leadership development program to improve their student organizing, partnership building, and community impact skills.

The 2025 cohort includes over 4,000 Millennium Fellows from more than 297 campuses in 47 nations who are engaged in projects that collectively advance all 17 Sustainable Development Goals and all 10 UNAI Principles. Here is just a sample of the important projects from the Class of 2025:

At the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh Millennium Fellows are working at the intersection of climate action, children’s rights and women’s rights with a project to empower women and children in under-represented communities, particularly during natural calamities. Using workshops, school visits, and community outreach, the initiative is projected to positively impact 100 people by reducing the inequitable impact of climate disasters on women and children.

At Johns Hopkins University, United States of America Millennium Fellows are spearheading an initiative to bridge the digital divide in the Baltimore area. Aligned with SDG 4: Quality Education, Millennium Fellows are organizing regular digital literacy workshops at various community shelters. These workshops will equip the residents with essential digital skills, from basic typing to accessing crucial healthcare, educational and employment related resources.

At the University of Ibadan in Nigeria Millennium Fellows are leading Project Amplify. Launched in 2024, in collaboration with the Women’s Law Clinic at the university, they provide free legal services to women from underserved communities. By providing legal awareness training and free legal aid, Millennium Fellows are advancing SDG 5: Gender Equality and SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities to help address challenges faced by the communities.

These initiatives represent a fraction of the projects undergraduates are carrying out on their campuses and in their communities to realize the Sustainable Development Goals in tangible and innovative ways.

MCN is also continuing an impactful partnership with the Coach Foundation, with The Coach Dream It Real x Coachtopia Scholarship. The scholarship offers tuition support to Millennium Fellows from historically underrepresented communities with a passion for sustainability who are interested in learning how they can build a better future for our planet by advancing progress towards a circular economy.

Ban Ki-moon, eighth Secretary-General of the United Nations, has shared his enthusiasm for the program: "As Millennium Fellows, we need you to lead by example - with empathy, humility, and inclusion as guiding values. You can embrace global citizenship, building a strong global network to learn from and support each other…We are all counting on you to affirm the dignity of people and our planet, now and for years to come.”

United Nations Academic Impact is proud to partner with MCN on this initiative, and in the coming weeks we’ll have more detailed articles on the Millennium Fellows and their projects.
