Readout of the Secretary-General's meeting with H.E. Mr. Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, President of the Republic of Maldives

The Secretary-General met with H.E. Mr. Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, President of the Republic of Maldives.  The Secretary-General congratulated Maldives for the Presidency of the 76th General Assembly and discussed key issues to be addressed during the session. The Secretary-General and the President also discussed efforts to recover sustainably from the COVID-19 pandemic, and the need for urgent climate action to limit global warming to 1.5 degrees, adapt to the impacts of climate change and mobilise the necessary public and private finance to transition to net zero by mid-century.
