Readout of the Secretary-General’s trilateral meeting with H.E. Mr. Bronislaw Komorowski, President of Poland, and H.E. Mr. Petro Poroshenko, President of Ukraine

At the initiative of the President of Poland, the Secretary-General took part in a trilateral meeting with H.E. Mr Bronislaw Komorowski, President of Poland, and H.E. Mr. Petro Poroshenko, President of Ukraine. He thanked both Presidents for their invitation to take part in the celebrations commemorating the 70th Anniversary of the end of World War II, in Gdansk today and in Kiev on May 8.

The three leaders exchanged views on the continuing conflict in Ukraine. During the meeting, the Secretary-General encouraged the sides to swiftly and fully implement the "Package of Measures for the Implementation of the Minsk agreements".  In particular, he noted the urgent need for a lasting and durable cease-fire, and to advance the political elements of the agreement.
