The United Nations and the government of Ukraine held their second annual Aviation Talks on 17 December 2025. The meeting took place virtually.
The United Nations participation was led by Ms. AnneMarie Van den Berg, Assistant Secretary-General for Supply Chain Management, on behalf of Mr. Atul Khare, Under-Secretary-General for Operational Support. She was accompanied by Ms. Maurizia Caló, Director, Logistics Division, and senior team members specializing in aviation, aviation safety and procurement within the Department of Operational Support. The Ukrainian delegation participated under the leadership of H.E., Mr. Andrii Melnyk, Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the United Nations, who formally opened the meeting, jointly with Ms. Van den Berg. The delegation included Mr. Daniil Menshykov, Acting Chairman of the State Aviation Administration of Ukraine (SAAU), along with senior officials from the SAAU, the National Transport Investigation Bureau, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The two parties highlighted the strong cooperation between the United Nations and Ukraine-registered civil aviation service providers in implementing UN mandates. Discussions covered regulatory oversight, aviation safety, and future outlooks for UN aviation activities.
The meeting reinforced the technical working relationship between respective aviation specialists, aiming to further enhance the quality and safety of air transportation services for the UN.
Both parties agreed to continue this dialogue on a regular basis.
