Readout of the Secretary-General’s meeting with H.E. Ms. Hilda Heine, President of the Republic of the Marshall Islands

The Secretary-General met with H.E. Ms. Hilda Heine, President of the Republic of the Marshall Islands. The Secretary-General and the President discussed UN support to climate justice and to addressing the country’s nuclear legacy. They also discussed the role of the UN Peacebuilding Fund as well as the importance of the presence of the UN Multi-Country Office in Micronesia that serves the North Pacific. The Secretary-General reiterated his full solidarity with the Republic of the Marshall Islands in its efforts towards climate justice.
