The Secretary-General met with H.E. Mr. Gustavo Petro Urrego, President of Colombia, in the margins of the 16th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity, underway in Cali. The Secretary-General expressed appreciation for Colombia’s hosting of the COP16 and its commitment and leadership to achieve peace with nature.
 
The Secretary-General also welcomed Colombia’s renewed focus on the implementation of the 2016 Final Peace Agreement and expressed continued UN support for efforts to broaden peace through dialogue.
 

 
El Secretario General se reunió con el Excelentísimo Señor Gustavo Petro Urrego, Presidente de Colombia, durante la 16ª Conferencia de la Partes del Convenio sobre la diversidad biológica que tiene lugar en Cali. El Secretario General expresó su gratitud a Colombia como país anfitrión de la COP16 y elogió el compromiso del país para lograr la paz con la naturaleza.
 
El Secretario General también destacó el renovado enfoque del Gobierno en la implementación del Acuerdo Final de Paz de 2016 y expresó su apoyo a los esfuerzos en curso para consolidar la paz a través del diálogo.
