Readout of the Secretary-General’s meeting with His Excellency Mr. Li Keqiang Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China

The Secretary-General met with H.E. Mr. Li Keqiang Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China. The Secretary-General thanked Premier Li for China’s active contributions to the United Nations, including to peacekeeping. They discussed the need for increased international cooperation for climate action and support to developing countries in the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals. They also exchanged views on global issues including the need to uphold multilateralism and the United Nations Charter, as well as to avoid the threat of use of nuclear weapons.
