Readout of the Secretary-General’s meeting with H.E. Mr. William Ruto, President and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces of the Republic of Kenya

The Secretary-General met with H.E. Mr. William Ruto, President and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces of the Republic of Kenya. They discussed peace and security in the Horn of Africa, Kenya’s membership of the United Nations Security Council, climate change and the humanitarian crisis in the region. The Secretary-General stressed the importance of Kenya’s continued support and leadership for the promotion of peace in the region. He called for concrete and honest discussions with development partners to complement humanitarian action.
