In answer to questions asked about the Secretary-General’s diplomatic engagements, the Spokesman had the following to say:

The Secretary General, in coordination with African Union mediator former President Olusegun Obasanjo and with President Uhuru Kenyatta, spoke separately with Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and with Debretsion Gebremicheal, Chairman of the Tigray People's Liberation Front (TPLF), to appeal for an end to the fighting and for the start of a comprehensive negotiation to solve the ongoing crisis.
