Readout of the Secretary-General’s meeting with H.E. Mr. Sauli Niinistö, President of the Republic of Finland

The Secretary-General met with H.E. Mr. Sauli Niinistö, President of the Republic of Finland.  The Secretary-General expressed appreciation for Finland’s strong support for multilateralism. 

President Niinistö updated the Secretary-General on his initiative in connection with the anniversary of the Helsinki Summit of the Conference on Security and Cooperation in Europe in 2025.  The Secretary-General and the President also discussed the importance of continued efforts to combat climate change as well as the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly the need for equitable access to vaccines.
