The Global Fund has had an extraordinary impact on millions of lives around the world in the fight against HIV, tuberculosis, and malaria.
I recall when the Global Fund first came to my country, Nigeria. We wanted it to fully support the national health plan -- and it delivered, strengthening health systems in Nigeria and around the world.
The Global Fund and the United Nations have worked hand-in-hand and demonstrated that working together brings progress and results. The efforts have helped to bring HIV, TB and malaria services to the most vulnerable populations and put communities at the centre of the response.
Let us build on the lessons from the past 20 years and get firmly on track to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030.
Congratulations to all who have worked so hard to reach this milestone.
Thank you.
