The Secretary-General met with H.E. General Taban Deng Gai, the First Vice-President of the Republic of South Sudan. They discussed the implementation of the Revitalized Agreement on the Resolution of Conflict in South Sudan. 

The Secretary-General welcomed the recent meetings between President Salva Kiir and Dr. Riek Machar as a means to build trust and confidence in the peace process. The Secretary-General welcomed progress made so far, which has improved conditions on the ground. 

The Secretary-General expressed continued commitment of the United Nations to support efforts in peace consolidation but underscored the importance for the parties to demonstrate genuine political will to implement the peace agreement.
