Readout of the Secretary-General’s meeting with H.E. Mr. Uhuru KENYATTA, President of the Republic of Kenya

 
 
Today, the Secretary-General met with H.E. Mr. Uhuru Kenyatta, the President of the Republic of Kenya.  The Secretary-General expressed his condolences on the terrorist attack in Nairobi which caused numerous deaths and injuries in January. He commended the Government’s response in this regard and reiterated the United Nations support to the Government’s efforts in countering terrorism, preventing violent extremism and sustaining peace. 
 
They also exchanged views on the main peace, security and humanitarian challenges facing the region.
