Readout of the Secretary-General’s meeting with H.E. Mr. Ismael Ould Cheikh Ahmed, Minister for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania [scroll down for French version]

The Secretary-General met with H.E. Mr. Ismael Ould Cheikh Ahmed, Minister for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania. The Secretary-General noted the peaceful holding of legislative, regional and municipal elections in Mauritania. He underlined the importance of an enhanced partnership between the United Nations and Mauritania through the UN Integrated Strategy for the Sahel (UNISS). He also stressed the United Nations’ commitment and support to the G5 Sahel Joint Force.

Le Secrétaire général a rencontré S.E. M. Ismael Ould Cheikh Ahmed, Ministre des Affaires étrangères et de la Coopération de la République islamique de Mauritanie. Le Secrétaire général a pris note de la tenue pacifique des élections législatives, régionales et municipales en République islamique de Mauritanie. Le Secrétaire général a souligné l’importance d’une collaboration renforcée entre les Nations Unies et la République islamique de Mauritanie à travers la Stratégie intégrée des Nations Unies pour le Sahel (UNISS). Il a également souligné l’engagement et le soutien des Nations Unies à la force conjointe du G5 Sahel.
