The Secretary-General commended President Kagame for his leadership as Chairperson of the African Union. He expressed appreciation for Rwanda's contribution to United Nations peacekeeping, in particular in the Central African Republic.
The Secretary-General and the President discussed peace, security and development challenges in Africa, notably the Khartoum-brokered peace talks on South Sudan and agreed on the importance of continued momentum in this regard. They exchanged views on climate change and agreed to join efforts to accelerate progress in this area.
