Readout of the Secretary-General’s meeting with H.E. Mr. Hassan Rouhani, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran

The Secretary-General met with H.E. Mr. Hassan Rouhani, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran.  The Secretary-General and the President discussed the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and underscored the importance of its full and effective implementation by all its participants. The two leaders exchanged views on regional issues of mutual concern and Iran’s initiative to counter violent extremism.
