Statement Attributable to the Spokesperson for the Secretary-General on Killings in Pakistan

The Secretary-General strongly condemns the appalling attack on a bus near Gilgit in Northwest Pakistan today, which reportedly targeted and killed more than twenty Shia Muslims. The Secretary-General expresses his outrage over such deliberate attacks on people due to their religious beliefs in Pakistan. He extends his heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and to the Government and people of Pakistan.
