Statement attributable to the Spokesperson for the Secretary-General extending condolences following the death of the Prime Minister of Barbados

The Secretary-General has learned with sadness of the untimely death of the Prime Minister of Barbados, the Honourable David Thompson. He acknowledges Prime Minister Thompson's long-standing commitment to democratic values, as well as his contribution to advance the purposes and principles of the United Nations, as demonstrated by his important role as a member of the High-level Panel on Global Sustainability.

 

The Secretary-General wishes to extend his sincere condolences and respect to the family of the late Prime Minister and to the Government and people of Barbados.
