Statement attributable to the Spokesperson for the Secretary-General on Guinea

Le Secrétaire général félicite le Gouvernement et le peuple guinéen y compris la commission électorale, les acteurs politiques et la société civile pour le déroulement pacifique de l'élection présidentielle du 27 juin. Dans l'attente des résultats du scrutin, le Secrétaire général lance un appel à tous les acteurs concernés pour qu'ils continuent à respecter leurs engagements en faveur d'un processus pacifique fondé sur le respect de l'État de droit et pour qu'ils acceptent le résultat du scrutin.

Le Secrétaire général exprime son appréciation à tous ceux qui ont contribué à faciliter le processus de transition en Guinée, y compris les partenaires internationaux, particulièrement la CEDEAO, l'Union Africaine, et les autres membres du Groupe International de Contact sur la Guinée.

The Secretary-General congratulates the Government and the people of Guinea, including the country's electoral commission, political stakeholders and civil society, for the peaceful atmosphere in which they conducted the 27 June Presidential election. As Guinea awaits the results of the vote, the Secretary-General calls on all concerned to continue to respect their commitments to a peaceful process based on respect of the rule of law, and to accept the outcome.

The Secretary-General expresses his appreciation to all those who have been involved in facilitating the transitional process in Guinea, including the country's external partners, particularly ECOWAS, the African Union and the other members of the International Contact Group on Guinea.
