The Secretary-General is deeply concerned at the further escalation of violence in the past 24 hours in the Middle East. He deplores the action taken in Jabalya refugee camp in Gaza on 26 October 2005.
Extra-judicial killings are not consistent with international law. The Secretary-general reminds Israel of its obligation to take all precautions to ensure that non-combatants are not harmed.
The Secretary-General calls on both parties to take all steps possible to prevent further violence.
