Readout of the Deputy Secretary-General’s meeting with H.E. Mr. Carl Bildt, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Sweden, and H.E. Mrs. Gunilla Carlsson, Minister for International Development Cooperation of Sweden, on the margins of the 67th General Assembly

The Deputy Secretary-General met today, 23 September 2012, with H.E. Mr. Carl Bildt, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Sweden, and H.E. Mrs. Gunilla Carlsson, Minister for International Development Cooperation of Sweden.

They discussed the way forward for the High-level Panel on post-2015 Development Agenda and the need to accelerate progress towards the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals. They also exchanged views on the grave regional implications of the worsening situation in Syria, and on the end of the political transition in Somalia. The Deputy-Secretary General thanked Sweden for its support to the United Nations in furthering peace and development.
