The Secretary-General met today with H.E. Mr. Aleksandar Vucic, Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia.
They discussed the European Union-facilitated dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, as well as the situation in the Western Balkans region. The Secretary-General assured the Prime Minister of the United Nations’ continued support to the countries of the region on their respective reform paths. The Secretary-General welcomed Serbia’s announcement of its intention to increase its contributions to peacekeeping as well as the good cooperation between the United Nations country team and the Government of Serbia. The Secretary-General noted that he is looking forward to cooperating closely with Serbia as the Chairman-in-Office of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe in 2015.
