The Secretary-General met today with H.E. Mr. Rimbink Pato, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration of the Independent State of Papua New Guinea.

The Secretary-General and the Minister discussed issues surrounding the Climate Summit and Sustainable Development Goals, promotion and protection of the rights of migrants and asylum seekers, as well as the peace process of the country’s Bougainville Autonomous Region. The Minister expressed high appreciation for UN’s field presence in the country and its commitment to further enhance cooperation with the UN in various areas.
