The Secretary-General met today in Mexico City with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Mexico, Mr. Meade Kuribreña. The Secretary-General thanked the Minister for hosting the High-Level Meeting of the Global Partnership for Effective Development Cooperation.
They discussed the post-2015 development agenda, as well as other important issues such as nuclear disarmament, the Arms Trade Treaty and South-South co-operation. They also exchanged views on the upcoming Summit on Climate Change and the World Conference on Indigenous Peoples, both planned for September 2014.
The Secretary-General commended Mexico’s ambitious institutional and legislative agenda in the human rights area. He also emphasized the importance of ensuring the human rights of migrants.
