Statement Attributable to the Special Adviser to the UN Secretary-General on Yemen

The Special Adviser to the United Nations Secretary-General on Yemen, Jamal Benomar, condemns the horrific shelling of a funeral gathering in Al Dhale province on Friday, 27 December, which resulted in the death of at least 19 people, including children. He extends his sincere condolences to the victims’ families.

Mr. Benomar expresses serious concern that the attack is being attributed to Government armed forces. He welcomes the investigation into the attack by the authorities and calls for the perpetrators to be brought to justice.
