Readout of the Secretary-General’s meeting with H.E. Mr. Guido Westerwelle, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Germany

The Secretary-General met today with H.E. Mr. Guido Westerwelle, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Germany. 

The Secretary-General briefed the Minister on efforts to achieve a political situation to the fighting in Syria, to improve the humanitarian situation both inside the country and in the neighbouring countries, and to deal with Syria’s chemical stockpiles. He thanked Germany for its strong support in all these areas.

They also exchanged views on the other issues in the Middle East, including Iran.
