Readout of the Secretary-General’s meeting with H.E. Mr. Enrico Letta, President of the Council of Ministers of the Italian Republic

The Secretary-General met today with H.E. Mr. Enrico Letta, President of the Council of Ministers of Italy.  They discussed the situations in Syria and Egypt, as well as the Middle East Peace Process.  In regard to Somalia, the Secretary-General expressed appreciation for Italy’s strong support to AMISOM.   

The Secretary-General welcomed Italy’s important contributions to a number of United Nations operations, including the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL).  They discussed the need for international efforts for the Sahel and for Libya, and to improve food security.
