Readout of the Secretary-General’s meeting with H.E. Ms. Helle Thorning-Schmidt, Prime Minister of Denmark, on the margins of the 67th United Nations General Assembly

The Secretary-General met today with H.E. Ms. Helle Thorning-Schmidt, Prime Minister of Denmark.

The Secretary-General and the Prime Minister discussed the critical importance of education for all in today’s world, and exchanged ideas on how the international community could best support the Secretary-General’s Global Initiative on "Education First", launched today on the margins of the General Assembly.

The Secretary-General and the Prime Minister also discussed the grave situation in Syria, including the worsening humanitarian crisis.
