Readout of the Secretary-General’s meeting with H.E. Mr. Ali Akbar Salehi, Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, on the margins of the Tokyo Conference on Afghanistan

The Secretary-General met with H.E. Mr. Ali Akbar Salehi, the Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, on the sidelines of the Tokyo Conference on Afghanistan today.             The Secretary-General and the Foreign Minister exchanged views on topics related to the agenda of the Tokyo Conference on Afghanistan. They also discussed developments in  Syria.             The Secretary-General expressed appreciation for Iran's positive role in supporting peace, security and development in Afghanistan. He also urged Iran to be part of a broad regional and international effort to address the Syrian crisis constructively.
