The Secretary-General met with H.E. Mr. Elio Di Rupo, Prime Minister of Belgium, in Brussels today.  The Secretary-General thanked the Prime Minister for Belgium’s leadership on human rights and peacebuilding and for Belgium’s significant contributions to UN Peacekeeping in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Lebanon and Kosovo.
 
The Secretary-General explained his priorities for the European Union Summit on Sustainable Energy for All he is attending in Brussels and underlined the crucial importance of the UN Conference on Sustainable Development in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in June. They also discussed Afghanistan and the situation in Syria.
