The Secretary-General welcomed the recently announced reforms in the fields of democratic governance and socioeconomic development and was briefed about the preparations for the next legislative elections. They also discussed the increasing threat of insecurity in the Sahel.

In that regard, the Secretary-General encouraged Algeria to continue its regional efforts in the fight against terrorism. The Secretary-General also thanked Algeria for its engagement in the Western Sahara negotiation process.
