Readout of the Secretary-General's meeting with His Excellency
Mr. Pham Binh Minh, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Socialist Republic of
Viet Nam, on the margins of the 66th General Assembly

They discussed issues related to UN reform, UN-Viet Nam Cooperation and UN-ASEAN cooperation. The Secretary-General commended the Government of Viet Nam for its “unquestionable global leadership” in driving forward the “One UN Initiative.” The Secretary-General also encouraged Viet Nam to redouble its efforts for the promotion and protection of human rights and towards peaceful resolution of the ongoing dispute over the South China Sea
