Readout of the Secretary-General's meeting with His Excellency Dr. Ekmeleddin Ihsanoðlu, Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, on the margins of the 66th General Assembly

Secretary-General BAN Ki-moon and Secretary-General Ekmeleddin Ihsanoðlu discussed issues of mutual interests, including Somalia, Iraq, Libya and Afghanistan.

Secretary-General BAN Ki-moon reiterated the importance of maintaining close cooperation between the United Nations and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. He looked forward to the two organizations deepening such cooperation in the years to come, including on conflict prevention and inter-religious issues.
