Readout of the Secretary-General's meeting with H.E. Mr. Pierre Nkurunziza, President of the Republic of Burundi, in the margins of the 66th General Assembly

The Secretary-General met today with the President of the Republic of Burundi, H. E. Mr. Pierre Nkurunziza. They discussed the Government of Burundi's efforts towards peace consolidation, including institutional reforms, the transitional justice process and the security situation. The Secretary-General highlighted the need for political and security stability and institutional reforms in order to attract prospective investors to the country. To that end, he pledged the United Nations continued support to Burundi.
