The Secretary-General met with Mr. Hugo Roger Martínez Bonilla, Foreign Minister of El Salvador, during his visit to Guatemala. The Secretary-General commended El Salvador for seeking a regional approach alongside national efforts to tackle the problem of rising insecurity and criminality. The Secretary-General and the Foreign Minister spoke about El Salvador's request for United Nations assistance to fight organized crime.
