The Secretary-General called Prime Minister Saad Hariri of Lebanon on Friday, 29 October. They discussed the situation in Lebanon, implementation of Resolution 1701, and the work of the Special Tribunal for Lebanon.

The Secretary-General expressed his deep concern over recent events and statements related to the Tribunal, in particular the incident against the investigators. He underscored that acts of interference and intimidation are unacceptable and that all parties must refrain from interfering in the work of the Tribunal. With respect to 1701, he welcomed the commitment of both Lebanon and Israel to put the 3 August incident behind them and move forward.
