Press events | Kofi Annan, Former Secretary-General

Q: Could you tell us the significance of the suspension that was announced over the weekend of Mr. [Benon] Sevan and Mr. [Joseph] Stephanides?

SG: I think Fred will be telling you more this afternoon, at noon.

Q: What about the Mideast story. Are you going to announce a new UN envoy soon? I mean things are cooking and …

SG: … and we are very actively involved, and we will have an envoy working with us.

Q: When?

Q: Who will it be?

SG: Who will it be? [Laughter]

Q: How soon?

SG: Fairly soon. Fairly soon.

Q: This big meeting tomorrow [the Quartet preparatory meeting in London], do you have anybody watching?

SG: Prendergast is there. Kieran is there. He's my envoy there.
