The Secretary-General condemns the killing on 15 January of one Cameroonian peacekeeper from the Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA) and the wounding of five others, including two seriously, by an explosive in Mbindali, in Ouham-Pendé Prefecture, northwest of Paoua. 
 
The Secretary-General offers his sincere condolences to the family of the victim and to the Government of Cameroon and wishes a speedy recovery to the wounded. 
 
The Secretary-General recalls that attacks targeting United Nations peacekeepers may constitute war crimes under international law.  He calls on the Central African Republic authorities to spare no effort in identifying the perpetrators of this attack and bringing them to justice swiftly.
 
The Secretary-General reaffirms the solidarity of the United Nations with the people and Government of the Central African Republic.

Le Secrétaire général condamne la mort le 15 janvier d'un Casque bleu camerounais de la Mission multidimensionnelle intégrée de stabilisation en République centrafricaine (MINUSCA) par engin explosif qui en a blessé cinq autres, dont deux grièvement, à Mbindali, dans la préfecture de l'Ouham-Pendé, au nord-ouest de la ville Paoua.

Le Secrétaire général rappelle que les attaques visant les soldats de la paix des Nations Unies peuvent constituer des crimes de guerre au regard du droit international.  Il appelle les autorités centrafricaines à ne ménager aucun effort pour identifier les auteurs de cette attaque et les traduire rapidement en justice.
 
Le Secrétaire général réaffirme la solidarité des Nations Unies envers le peuple et le gouvernement de la République centrafricaine.
