The Secretary-General strongly condemns the appalling attack on the night of 11 June 2022 against the town of Seytenga, in the Sahel region of Burkina Faso, which resulted in the deaths of scores of civilians and the displacement of large numbers of people from their homes. The Secretary-General expresses his sincere condolences to the bereaved families of the victims, as well as to the people of Burkina Faso.
 
The Secretary-General calls on the Burkinabè authorities to spare no effort in identifying and bringing the perpetrators of this attack to justice. He reiterates the commitment of the United Nations to continue to support Burkina Faso in its efforts to end insecurity and foster social cohesion.

Déclaration attribuable au porte-parole du Secrétaire général - sur le Burkina Faso

Le Secrétaire général condamne fermement l’attaque effroyable survenue durant la nuit du 11 juin 2022 contre la ville de Seytenga, dans la région du Sahel, au Burkina Faso, qui a entraîné la mort de dizaines de civils et le déplacement d'un grand nombre de personnes de leurs foyers. Le Secrétaire général exprime ses sincères condoléances aux familles endeuillées, ainsi qu’au peuple Burkinabè.

Le Secrétaire général appelle les autorités burkinabè à ne ménager aucun effort pour identifier et traduire rapidement en justice les auteurs de cette attaque. Il réaffirme l’engagement de l’ONU à continuer de soutenir le Burkina Faso dans ses efforts visant à mettre fin à l’insécurité et promouvoir la cohésion sociale.
