The Secretary-General is closely following developments in Guinea and takes note of President Alpha Condé’s decision to hold the legislative elections and constitutional referendum on 22 March.
The Secretary-General calls on all stakeholders to ensure a peaceful and transparent process. He reiterates his call for a constructive dialogue between the Government, the opposition and civil society that seeks to achieve consensus through an inclusive process.
The United Nations is ready to support such efforts, including through the Special Representative of the Secretary-General for West Africa and the Sahel, Mr. Mohamed Ibn Chambas.

Le Secrétaire général suit de près l’évolution de la situation en Guinée et a pris note de la décision du Président Alpha Condé d’organiser les élections législatives et le referendum constitutionnel le 22 mars.
Le Secrétaire général appelle l’ensemble des parties à assurer un processus pacifique et transparent. Il réitère son appel à un dialogue constructif entre le Gouvernement, l'opposition et la société civile afin de parvenir à un consensus par le biais d'un processus inclusif.
L’ONU est prête à soutenir ces efforts, notamment par l'intermédiaire du Représentant spécial du Secrétaire général pour l'Afrique de l'Ouest et le Sahel, M. Mohamed Ibn Chambas.
