The Secretary-General welcomes the formation on 11 June of a new Government in Madagascar and the recent appointment of Mr. Christian Ntsay as Prime Minister, in compliance with a 25 May ruling of the High Constitutional Court. He commends President Hery Rajaonarimampianina and Malagasy political actors for reaching a compromise in the interest of the people of Madagascar.
 
The Secretary-General appeals to all political actors to strengthen dialogue in order to safeguard the gains made in consolidating peace and democracy in the country and not to compromise the progress made towards achieving sustainable development. He reiterates the commitment of the United Nations to support peaceful, credible and inclusive elections this year in line with the Constitution.
 
The Secretary-General also applauds the ongoing close coordination between the United Nations, through his Special Adviser Abdoulaye Bathily, and international partners including the African Union and the Southern African Development Community in supporting the Malagasy-led dialogue and reconciliation. ​​​​​

Le Secrétaire général salue la formation le 11 juin 2018 d’un nouveau gouvernement à Madagascar et la récente nomination de M. Christian Ntsay au poste de Premier Ministre, conformément à la décision du 25 mai de la Haute Cour Constitutionnelle. Il félicite les efforts du Président Hery Rajaonarimampianina et des acteurs politiques malgaches pour parvenir à un compromis dans l'intérêt du peuple de Madagascar.
 
Le Secrétaire général appelle tous les acteurs politiques à renforcer le dialogue pour consolider les acquis en matière de consolidation de la paix et de la démocratie dans le pays et pour ne pas compromettre les progrès vers un développement durable. Il réitère l'engagement des Nations Unies à soutenir des élections pacifiques, crédibles et inclusives cette année, conformément à la Constitution.
 
Le Secrétaire général salue également l’étroite collaboration actuelle entre les Nations Unies, à travers son Conseiller spécial M. Abdoulaye Bathily, et les partenaires internationaux, y compris l’Union africaine et la Communauté de développement de l'Afrique australe, pour soutenir le processus de dialogue et de réconciliation mené par les Malgaches.
