The Secretary-General met with H.E. Mr. Gabriel Boric Font, President of the Republic of Chile. The Secretary-General congratulated Chile for its election to preside the 2023-2024 session of ECOSOC.

The Secretary-General and the President discussed the situation of democracy worldwide and the need to reform multilateral governance, including the international financial architecture. The Secretary-General raised concerns over the impact of climate change and rising sea levels and referred to the situation in Antarctica.

El Secretario General se reunió con el Excelentísimo Sr. Gabriel Boric Font, Presidente de la República de Chile. El Secretario General felicitó a Chile por su elección para presidir la sesión 2023-2024 del ECOSOC.

El Secretario General y el Presidente discutieron la situación de la democracia en el mundo y la necesidad de reformar la gobernanza multilateral, incluida la arquitectura financiera internacional. El Secretario General expresó su preocupación por el impacto del cambio climático y el aumento del nivel del mar, y se refirió a la situación en la Antártida.
