Readout of the Secretary-General’s meeting with H.E. Mr. Charles Michel, Prime Minister of Belgium

The Secretary-General met today H.E. Mr. Charles Michel, Prime Minister of Belgium.

The Secretary-General and the Prime Minister agreed that a successful implementation of the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda would require strong review and follow-up mechanisms. In this context, the Secretary-General thanked Belgium for its active support to the Sustainable Development Agenda process.

They also took the opportunity to review the situation in Central Africa, including in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Burundi. Finally, they discussed international efforts in the field of counter-terrorism, including the UN Plan of Action to Prevent Violent Extremism to be presented by the Secretary-General to the General Assembly in November 2015.
